Saint John Maximovitch (1896–1966) was a Russian Orthodox bishop, wonderworker, and beloved modern saint known for his holiness, asceticism, and miracles. Born in Kharkov (now Ukraine), he fled Russia after the Bolshevik Revolution and served as bishop in China, France, and finally San Francisco.

He was known for his tireless care for orphans, the poor, and the sick, often praying through the night and eating very little. A strict ascetic and deeply humble man, he also possessed spiritual gifts such as prophecy and healing. In San Francisco, he guided the building of the Cathedral of the Joy of All Who Sorrow and endured false accusations with patience and love.

He reposed in 1966, and many miracles were reported at his tomb. His incorrupt relics are enshrined in San Francisco, where he is venerated as a great saint. His feast day is celebrated on July 2 (June 19 O.S).
