Saint Stylianos of Paphlagonia (6th century) is one of the most beloved saints in the Orthodox Church, especially known as the protector of children and infants. Born in Paphlagonia (in Asia Minor), he came from a wealthy Christian family but gave away his inheritance to the poor and chose a life of asceticism and prayer.

He became a monk and later a hermit, living in solitude and devoting himself completely to God. Known for his joyful spirit and radiant peace, Stylianos was especially gifted in caring for children. He healed sick infants and children through his prayers, and many parents came to him for help. According to tradition, just touching him or asking for his intercession could bring healing.

What made him stand out was not only his spiritual gifts, but the joy and warmth he radiated, something rare among the strict ascetics of his time. After his death, many miracles were reported through his intercession, particularly involving the healing or protection of children. He is often depicted holding a swaddled baby in his arms.

His feast day is celebrated on November 26, and he remains especially dear to families, godparents, and anyone praying for the health and well-being of children.
